The Project
Since 2015, Solidari’terre has been working alongside the association La Croix du Sud to support the Wichi community in the village of Las Lomitas.
In Las Lomitas, this Amerindian community is strongly affected by Chagas disease, which infects thousands of people every year. Sometimes fatal, Chagas disease is transmitted by bugs that infest the walls of their traditional houses, made of straw and clay. Unfortunately, there is still no vaccine to cure or prevent the spread of this disease.
In order to help the Wichi community to protect themselves against this disease, our team of 15 students from emlyon business school will leave this summer to build 3 brick houses, thus guaranteeing a healthy environment for the inhabitants of Las Lomitas.
